Durham Skate Plaza Glaring Omissions – Where’s the Flat Bar?
The new pool is open, and it is steep. I’m not complaining, because it is super fun. I can’t wait to see what kind of gnarlyness goes down… those construction guys are off the chain.
The rest of the park is pretty close to finished as well… I’d say it’s about 85% done. So sorry I haven’t posted in a while, I’ve been too busy skating it…. boom.

I added a feature that allows commenters to post videos..so if you have videos from the park and around durham, Post them! Hopefully I’ll find something that allows you guys to post pics as well.
Stopped by this morning, and the sub doing all the rails was there. Looks like the main stair sets are getting flat bars, and there’ll be a combo of squares and rounds for the remaining smaller rails. Also, got confirmation that the two rails leading down the handicap ramp at the entrance to the park are going to be only 18″ off the ground instead of the standard grab bar height! That’s going to make for some sick/long ass grinds. They were also pouring the flat at the top of the far end of the park, near the step up bank (which is also recently completed), which is the last of the major pours.
Dude, fu@k going on Saturday. It’s gonna be stupid crowded. There is no way anybody is gonna be able to really skate with the crowd or even be able to watch without elbowing constantly for a spot. Fu@k that. Marsh Creek will be empty on Saturday, I’ll be there. The new park will be there forever. I’ll go next week.
Looking forward to checking this place out, I don’t care about getting to skate it, I’ll have my drinking pants on.
It’s probably full of water now…that sucks. I hate this weather.
